humidity

It's been annoyingly humid the past few days. I love rain and all but I wish sealants weren't so sensitive to that sort of thing.

I did more mod work on my would-be Cailath head. I got his mouth and nose working a bit better. I think I'm going to do more work on the eyes though. I will either change the shape or just give them a more closed appearance like Aura's.

Also attempted to give Scileraen a new face up. I'm starting to doubt that he's the right fit for the character but I'm not sure who else he would work for.

And I also attempted to visit the hardware store in search of something I could attach to my plastic armature to make removable tails for Anna and Istthraen. No luck but I will come up with some other method. Maybe I could find some way to meld an appropriately sized bead with a screw...

  1. There is seriously nothing worse than wanting to work on dolls and honestly not being able too. I am dying to do some of mine, but it rained all day and now it's freezing and wet.

:D What kind of tails are you making? I'm always interested in tails. I just put a magnet in Wyn's (it has been safety-pinned on since I got him), it works a lot better now....

    1. Agreed. It's no fun at all. Sorry about the freezing and wet. It is similar here. Not quite freezing but the temperature dropped significantly and it won't stop raining or being humid.

The tails are supposed to be sort of pseudo reptilian, but I'm still trying to figure out how to pull that off. For now I just have what I need to make them poseable and am working on the detachable part. After that I will attempt to work out some sort of cover for them or something to make them look proper. I'm glad the magnet helped with Wyn's tail! I always worry when using magnets with things. My fridge has a horrible tendency to send magnets flying to their deaths so I just don't trust them to stay in place sometimes.

    2. Yeah, our weather pretty much always sucks. We get one or two good days in the spring and the fall, and other than that it's 106 and 100% humidity or -20 with snow D: Yay stl.

Oh wow, I would love to see them she they're finished. Or concepts. I don't think I've seen anything like that with dolls before...good luck! Making tails posable is always a fun challenge.

lol I have a lot of the earth magnets. They hold to everything. Except Boo's tail, which he keeps losing :\

    3. Where does one acquire those fancy earth magnets? I guess I could do something crazy like google it haha.

Sounds like you and I get very similar weather. Which is unfortunate for creative projects, face ups, and the like. Well the heat end of the weather spectrum. We don't really get the -20 with snow part where I live.

I will be sure to post some pictures as I progress on this tail venture! I actually got the idea from someone else. I can't remember exactly who though..

    4. On the Ebay. But be careful to order the right size. I thought I was ordering big ones and ended up with microscopic magnets XD they're smaller than puki-sized!! But I'll find a use for them somewhere.

It's also unfortunate for breathing unless you have gills XD
I have learned to pretty much hate all weather now. I wish I lived somewhere where it was dry and 70 all the time.....I don't think such a place exists....

Yay! I can't wait to see!

    5. Ooh okay! The Ebay is quite handy for such things. Glad you warned me about size. Despite having that problem multiple times in other areas, I still am terrible about making sure what I'm getting will work.

Smaller than puki sized? That must be like microscopic! Wow...

Hm... when I was visiting California it was dry and around 80-90 pretty much all summer. It sounds hot, but without the humidity we could actually turn off the AC and leave the windows open and be comfortable. It was actually pretty great! Sadly, slightly higher cost of living than where I am now.

  2. They were so tiny lol I fail so hard at size XD
Next time I'll pay more attention.

I've actually heard CA was the place for me due to temps and lack of humidity...but I have a good job, and no need to move out there....and yeah, COL would kill me. My rent is so freaking cheap it's not funny. I couldn't afford to live out of my car on the West Coast....
